Media Communications to Reach Travelers
Getting local, regional and national reporters, producers and travel/special interest editors to write and run stories about Philadelphia as a travel destination
GPTMC has developed a strong, award-winning communications program (run entirely in-house), which has created a new, positive image of Philadelphia through aggressive media outreach and production of media tools, such as regional news content, professional photography and video (b-roll), press kits, a 3,200-person media database and visiting journalist program.
In 2005, we generated 4,050 stories, reaching 934 million people and valued at $55.4 million in advertising equivalency.
Department Mission
GPTMC's Communications department is charged with getting the word out about Philadelphia as one of the nation's top leisure tourism destinations. To achieve this goal, we aggressively pursue publicity/editorial coverage in national, regional and local press, including print, television, radio and online outlets. Our focus is on subjects and media that appeal most to travelers, such as performing and visual arts, history, soft adventure, gardening, dining, shopping, architecture, family travel and general lifestyle. Everything we produce is timely, newsworthy and geared towards journalists' interests and deadlines.
