Hip: Arts and Culture
Art of all kinds is accessible, affordable and fun in Philly
The arts in Philadelphia work overtime: some of the city’s best events take place at night and on the weekends.
Every Friday night is a party at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art
, when the Great Stair Hall is transformed into an intimate jazz club with cocktails, live music and light fare. Visitors can stroll through the galleries or join a museum tour.
Across town, the monthly
First Friday
event livens up the streets of Old City with galleries, antique shops and design studios opening up their doors to evening visitors with special receptions. Live music, performances and refreshments are usually on hand, along with the latest in local art.
Even the museums and galleries outside of Old City get in on the action with their own openings and events on most First Fridays, such as
The Fabric Workshop and Museum
’s free artist lectures and
Space 1026
’s evening openings/parties.
