Bucks County
Follow Your Heart to Bucks

There are few places on earth that possess Bucks County’s unique brand of warmth, charm and style. Here, you can explore, discover and experience an absolute multitude of attractions in a modern-day place that reveres the past. Spend the day at Sesame Place. Take part in heritage festivals. Go hot air ballooning over the countryside. Discover rare antiques in small villages. Tour museums and visit wineries. Ride a mule-drawn canal boat or carousel. Whether you enjoy Bucks County as a historical gem, a shopper’s paradise, a recreational heaven, a superb dining mecca, or simply a very beautiful place to visit, you can expect to take away the experiences of a lifetime. Welcome!

Drive scenic River Road along the Delaware River, tour eight wineries, explore historic towns and museums and check out 11 covered bridges. Nature enthusiasts can create outdoor adventure. Antique shops, specialty boutiques, art galleries and open-air markets offer a variety of shopping opportunities.

New Hope boasts romantic bed & breakfasts, elegant art galleries, antique shops and fine restaurants. Doylestown includes an impressive belt of cultural attractions: The Mercer Museum, the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, Fonthill and the James A. Michener Art Museums.

At Sesame Place children can interact with Sesame Street characters. Pennsbury Manor provides a glimpse of how William Penn spent his days. Byers’ Choice presents a museum of its beloved Caroler figurines.

Peddler’s Village offers seven unique restaurants, a 71-room luxury inn and 70 specialty shops. Washington Crossing Historic Park is where General George Washington led his troops to change the course of the American Revolution in 1776.

The history of Bucks County dates back as far as the late 1600s. Pennsbury Manor, the 17th century country manor house of William Penn, is also open to the public and offers a glimpse of how the founder of Pennsylvania spent his days. Riddled with a lush historical past and coupled with telling tales of yesterday, such attractions provide visitors with a taste of Bucks County’s colorful story. Washington Crossing Historic Park, for instance, commemorates the crossing of the Delaware River by General George Washington and his troops on that fateful Christmas Day in 1776. A reenactment is performed for the public each Christmas Day. Every year, the live reenactment captures the historic relevance of this momentous occasion that forever altered the fate of America.

In addition to its own historical significance, New Hope offers country charm comfortably offset by casual sophistication. This eclectic town stands as one of Bucks County’s premiere travel locations. The artist colony, New Hope, is home to renowned artists Daniel Garber and Edward Redfield. New Hope is also peppered with romantic bed & breakfasts, elegant art galleries, antique shops and over 30 fine restaurants. Add such historical hotspots as the Delaware River Canal Boat Co. and the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, and this old-time town’s allure is as enchanting today as it was to so many eminent literary figures of yesterday.

Doylestown, Bucks County has much to offer through an impressive belt of historical attractions comprised of Fonthill Museum, Mercer Museum, the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works and the James A. Michener Art Museum. Fonthill was the home of creative genius Henry Mercer and every room, every hall and every turn is strikingly indicative of that genius. The Mercer Museum is a grouping of towering castle houses that exhibit dramatic displays of folk art, furnishings and tools of early America. The Moravian Pottery & Tile Works is a working history museum that continues to produce tiles and mosaics in a manner similar to that employed by Henry C. Mercer himself. Located within the handsomely reconstructed buildings of the old Bucks County Prison, the James A. Michener Art Museum promotes artists located in, and around, Bucks County through its collection of 20th century American art, sculpture and changing exhibitions. Perhaps Doylestown is best known through the late prolific author, philanthropist and teacher James A. Michener, who always considered Doylestown, rich in history and old-time flavor, home.

Bucks County is also home to the only Sesame Street character theme park in the world, Sesame Place. The opportunity for children to see and interact with the Sesame Street characters they so adore and admire is unique to Bucks County alone. An impressive destination, Bucks County has something to keep every member of the family happy, from grandparents to grandchildren.

Bucks County has much to offer shoppers with a flair for country style, crafts, antiques and collectibles. Bucks County is home to Byers’ Choice, the makers of America’s beloved Caroler figurines. Patrons are encouraged to visit the premises and watch the skilled artisans from an observation deck as they meticulously piece together Caroler figurines by hand. A Country Gift Shoppe and the Ladie & Friends Lizzie High Museum feature a spectacular assortment of country collectibles, gifts and decorative accoutrements.

Peddlers Village, with over 70 one-of-a-kind specialty shops set amidst 42 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and brick walkways, is located just outside of New Hope. The Village also offers a kid’s “edu-tainment” fair, complete with a Discovery Land, Game Room, and the Painted Pony Café. Peddler’s Village affords visitors with an option of splendid dining in any one of 6 unique restaurants, and luxurious accommodations in any of the 71 rooms. Peddler’s Village is also where wintertime visitors will witness one of the most splendid winter lighting displays in Bucks County.

The rich accommodations found in Bucks County are a symbol that deeply defines the region. Experience the hospitality of a genuine country inn. Get cozy in one of our charming Bed & Breakfasts found on charming farms, off country roads and small-town settings. Indulge yourself at one of our contemporary, convenient hotels or motels. Get back to nature at a beautiful campground. Bucks County has fabulous lodging to accommodate every style!
