Going back to the American Bandstand days, Philadelphia has always had a love affair with disc jockeys. Philadelphia DJs like King Britt, Josh Wink, Cash Money and Jazzy Jeff have more recently put the city on the international map as a club town to be reckoned with. Drawing on the city's rich soul traditions and scouring record bins for lost classics, they redefined the sound of Philadelphia and helped fuel the DJ revolution of the late '90s. Their acolytes pack the city's clubs each week, holding sway over crowds while spinning house, hip-hop, jungle, techno, experimental, downtempo, trip-hop and any other genre you can dream up.
